School Nurse

Job Description

De Vore Recruiting is seeking a School Nurse to advise and help with the health needs of anyone on the school campus.The School Nurse will be working directly with other staff members of the Health Office, principals, administrators, and teachers. Qualified candidates will create and maintain a healthy environment for everyone on campus.

Job Responsibilities

The School Nurse will be responsible for overseeing all day-to-day operations of the Health Office and must feel comfortable giving appropriate assessments and evaluations of anyone in need. Qualified candidates will serve as the link between physicians, families, and community agencies to assure access and continuity of health care for students. Additionally, candidates will provide relevant instruction, counseling, and guidance to students, parents, staff, and others concerning health-related issues.

Additional Responsibilities Include: 

  • Work with school staff to uphold health standards of school 
  • Be familiar with the state Nurse Practice Act, local statutes and school guidelines and regulations 
  • Collects information about the health and development status of the students 
  • Develops a nursing care plan 
  • Provide and maintain general first aid to campus personalee 
  • Coordinate the acquisition of supplies and materials necessary to efficiently run the Health Office. 
  • Oversee any school health forms, confidential medical lists, and school health database. 
  • Responsible for all Student Accident Reports
  • Develop treatment plans and protocols
  • Organize annual CPR, First Aid, AED, and Bloodborne Pathogen classes
  • Coordinate and track Tb screening for employees 
  • Cultivate and promote campus-wide health and safety initiatives

Job Requirements

The School Nurse will be required to work collaboratively with all students, employees, community guests and groups. They should be proficient in verbal and written communication and be able to problem solve, collect data and draw conclusions from their observations. Candidates will be required to multi-task in a dynamic, fast paced school environment.

Additional requirements Include: 

  • Bachelors Degree in related health field 
  • Valid and current state registered nursing license 
  • Write reports and effectively present information when needed 
  • Excellent organizational skills 
  • Proficient with computer programs such as: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Google docs
  • At least 2 years of experience in school nursing
