Medication Technician Assisted Living Client- San Francisco

This position works under the direction of the Director of Health Services and in cooperation with the other Caregivers/CNA's/Medication Technicians at Our Assisted Living Client. Primary Duties: Supervises the direct care of residents and provides care as needed, including administering, monitoring and recording medications given to residents.

Must be able to work as the team leader for their shift, providing supervision under the direction of the Director of Health Services, ensuring compliance with professional standards of care. Rounds twice a shift to ensure that proper care is being given, in a safe and clean environment. Provides shift reports and receives shift reports from appropriate staff. Documents all actions and required data in a timely manner using appropriate forms, including reporting incidents that require filing with the Department of Social Services. Maintains regular communication with physicians and family members, especially as residents’ physical health or needs change, in compliance with all laws of confidentiality. Assists residents during dining time; delivers meal trays to residents who are unable to go to the dining room.

Other tasks as assigned by the Director of Health Services.Maintains resident safety at all time. Responds in a positive manner to resident requests. Assists residents and team members with residents’ Activities of Daily Living (ADL’s) when necessary. Promptly reports changes and any unusual occurrences regarding residents to Licensed Nurse or Director of Health Services. Assists in transporting residents to and from activities, programs, dining rooms and/or pick-up points for transportation, when necessary. Accurately takes and records blood pressure, pulse, respiration and temperature. Answers radio transmissions and pages promptly. Maintains safe and sanitary workstations and equipment. Maintains resident confidentiality. Maintains appropriate boundaries with residents.

Responds to and acts appropriately in emergency or natural disasters, assisting the Director of Health as indicated. Participates in in-service trainings and education programs; assists with quality improvement programs as requested. Complies with all Our Assisted Living Client policies, procedures and standards of performance.

Other tasks as assigned. Qualifications : Current First Aid and CPR Certifications will be required. Completion of in-house medication aide training. Demonstrated ability to form positive working relationships with frail seniors and their families required.

Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. Pre-employment Requirements: Health Screening and Tuberculoses Screening, resulting in a negative TB diagnosis. Criminal Record Transcript clearance.

Proof of completion of a State approved First Aid course can be done upon employment. Proof of completion of a State approved CPR for professionals and first responders can be done upon employment. Proof of completion of annual flu vaccination, including current flu season. Job Type: Full-time
